Okay, so my mom just bought a new car. It's heartbreaking - her VW Passat wagon, possibly the most badass car I've ever known, is like ten years old now and is starting to get tweaky. Unfortunately, seeing as how it's a VW, the tweaks are a bit pricey to fix, and on an old car you're going to start seeing lots and lots of tweaks to fix. As a somewhat lesser problem, I need to be able to drive in like, a month, and obviously I'll learn faster on an automatic transmission (my parents both drive manual right now. Oh, did I mention that I finally got my learner's permit? 'Cause I totally did.) Sooo, sometime this weekend, probably, we're going to pick up my mom's shiny new Prius. The awesome part? She's already named it. It's called Motoko. My right hand to God. I had absolutely nothing to do with it either, believe it or not - I just noted that the car was cold, sterile, almost hideously efficient, and really more computer than car, and she was like "OH HAAAAY!" It totally fits, too - I mean, aside from the aforementioned characteristics, it's a Japanese car, it's black, it's wicked curvy, and the dash display has this oddly retro-80's feel to it. I wasn't too jazzed on the Prius to begin with, since quite frankly it scares me, but maaan, I'm going to drive that thing with pride now. We got to see it today too when my mom went to sign the papers. Apparently lithium smells overpoweringly like fresh paint and new upholstery. Tags: my life Feeling: energetic
